How long can I keep an item?
Undergraduate students can borrow up to 50 books for 28 days and five DVDs for three days. Graduate students have an extended check out period for books. If you need your items for longer, you can renew them at the Library’s service desk or through the Library’s website. See details on the Borrow, Renew Request page.
What happens if I have overdue books?
If you have overdue items, you will not be able to borrow anything else from the Library until you return them. The Library does not charge fines for overdue books and DVDs, but we do ask that you return them on time so that others can use them. If you graduate or end your employment at VCUQatar you will be charged for any unreturned items.
What if I lost a book or DVD?
Just pay the replacement fee of QR328 per item and you will be able to borrow items from the library again.
Does the Library have any electronic books?
Yes, you can access a large number of electronic books, or e-Books as they are more commonly known, across a wide range of disciplines through VCU Libraries.
What if I need a book that the Library doesn’t have?
The books on the shelf are just a small part of what you are able to access through the Library. We can request books from the VCU Libraries in Richmond and other Education City libraries. If you just need a book chapter or an article, we can request a digital copy through our ILLiad system.
