FA02) Freehand Speed Sketching

In this course, you will learn the various sketching principles and methods to acquire the skills to express their ideas in the form of quick sketches or capture a moment in various media. You will gain more confidence in capturing simple to relatively complex shapes, forms, scales, compositions and using a number of approaches. You will discuss your aims and objectives for taking this course and create a pragmatic working plan to reach their sketching goals. 

If you have already taken Freehand Speed Sketching Class I (Beginners), and wish to step up your sketching skills, or simply explore and re-flex your sketching muscles, then this class is for you.

Class Outline

  1. Introduction, Class Objective and Goals, Sketch Exploration.
  2. Keeping a sketchbook, sketching objects and combination of objects
  3. Sketching a composition
  4. Sketching ideas
  5. Sketching blindfolded
  6. Sketching small scale and large scale
  7. Exhibition and Critique

Items to buy for this class

Classroom Materials:

Sketch pads, pencils, eraser, charcoal, watercolor. Objects used for the class such as vases, pots, etc to create compositions for some of the class exercises.

Student Materials:

Sketch Pad (A3)
Charcoal Sticks
Black Sketch pen set
Pencils (2B, 4B, 6B)
Colored/ Grey Marker Set 

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Jesmine loves to travel and to learn from different cultures, which in turn enriches her as an individual and her design research. Continuous learning and teaching are one of her many passions.
