The population of third-culture kids (TCK) is increasing due to globalization. A TCK is an individual who is raised in a foreign country during their developmental years, resulting in a strong bond to multiple cultures without having full ownership of any. Which challenges the idea of national belonging. Using fashion, poetry, and film—this project aims to initiate a conversation that exposes and celebrates the complex identity of a TCK. Through my own experience as an Indonesian TCK, I seek to discover if our rootlessness is freedom or isolation?
