intima’ – tanmiyah

With the generous support of the Qatar Foundation, the Painting & Printmaking Department is proud to showcase the VCUarts Qatar Fellowship and the work of this year's fellows: Azim Al Ghussein and asmaa al-issa.

Like the freshly planted trees on the side of Dukhan Highway, Azim and asmaa’s recent relocation to Qatar has allowed them to acclimate and grow alongside one another.

The work presented is in response to their experiences of living, teaching, and eating over the past eight months. The exhibition marks the conclusion of their post-MFA residency program at VCUarts Qatar’s Painting + Printmaking department.

There will also be an Artist Talk on Tuesday, April 16 at 7pm.
Both events will be free and open to the public.

Special thanks to the Fire Station - Artist in Residence. Image courtesy of the artists.
