Doha Festival City and Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, in collaboration with VCUarts Qatar, recently unveiled Emerging Voices, a fashion exhibition celebrating local fashion design talent.
VCUarts Qatar Fashion Design students – Haya Al Thani, Halah Mahmoud, Samah Sulyman, Fay Alsharif, Jory Al-Buainain, and Maya Yatim – showcased their exciting design work and editorial photography in the exhibition, which took place in the luxury court at Doha Festival City.
Emerging Voices was curated to support and promote Qatar’s evolving fashion scene and VCUarts Qatar’s fashion design students. Through the exhibition, students showcased their work alongside established brands and industry professionals and had the opportunity to network with professionals, build connections, and explore potential collaborations.
During the opening event of the exhibition, Nour Arida, a model and influential figure in the region for her work in the fashion industry, was in attendance and was impressed by the local talent and excellent work she saw. Arida said, “I am so impressed by the talent I have seen at Emerging Voices in Qatar. These young designers have produced incredible pieces of international level design and quality and fit for international markets.”
Since its inception, the Fashion Design department at VCUarts Qatar has contributed to the region’s fashion scene by fostering creativity, promoting cultural diversity, and equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the ever-evolving world of fashion.
Christopher Fink, the chair of VCUarts Qatar’s Fashion Design department, applauded the work local designers and VCUarts Qatar students have done to successfully carve a distinctive voice on the global stage of fashion.
“Our graduates are making a significant impact in shaping the region’s fashion industry by bringing unique perspectives, creativity, and cultural influences to their designs. The Emerging Voices event served as a key point and continuation of their impact, showcasing their potential to shape emerging trends and contribute to Qatar’s distinct fashion identity,” said Fink.
