Hayakom/Welcome Event for Upcoming Class of 2026 Held

The students were greeted by VCUarts Qatar’s Dean Amir Berbić, who said, “I would like to give an especially warm welcome to our prospective students. Your hard work and perseverance saw you earn a place at one of the top-rated art and design schools in the region."

VCUarts Qatar welcomed the Class of 2026 at a special event on March 30, 2022. The “Hayakom/Welcome” event for students who have been accepted to VCUarts Qatar, and their families, was held in the University’s Atrium, and Saffron Hall.

A total of 84 students have been offered places at VCUarts Qatar for the upcoming academic year.

The students were greeted by VCUarts Qatar’s Dean Amir Berbić, who said, “I would like to give an especially warm welcome to our prospective students. Your hard work and perseverance saw you earn a place at one of the top-rated art and design schools in the region. I encourage you to immerse yourself in all that we have to offer: our programs, our faculty, our extra-curricular activities, and our world-class facilities.”  

He added, “Let me tell you a bit more about this University. Here at VCUarts Qatar, we value collaboration, experimentation, innovation, relevancy, and diversity. These are the values and attributes that, for nearly 25 years, have underpinned everything we do at VCUarts Qatar. We have a solid, time-honored reputation for collaboration.”

The Class of 2026 were then introduced to the Chairs of the departments of Interior Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Painting + Printmaking, and Art History who gave the students an overview of VCUarts Qatar’s programs.

Some of the University’s alumni who had graduated from various departments such as Art History, Graphic Design, and Painting + Printmaking, and are currently employed in various roles and across diverse sectors in Qatar were on hand to talk about their experiences as students at VCUarts Qatar, and how their studies contributed to their respective career choices and journeys.

The soon-to-be VCUarts Qatar students were also invited to try out various activities offered at the kiosks set up in University’s saffron hall, which included a photo booth, block printing and design by coding. Advisors from VCUarts Qatar’s Alumni, Student Affairs departments as well as Student Financial Services were present to answer questions.
