High Achievers Honored by Dean’s List Selection
One hundred and thirteen students recognized for their achievements
The last week of October saw 113 of our high achieving students earn places on the Dean’s List.
Across the global higher education sector, inclusion in a university’s Dean’s List is a recognition of a student’s commitment to hard work and academic excellence. At VCUarts Qatar, this selection takes place bi-annually.
Of the 113 students placed on the 2022 Spring semester’s Dean's List, 12 were from the Art History program, 11 from the Fashion Design program, 20 from the Graphic Design program, 21 from the Interior Design program, 15 from the Painting + Printmaking program and 34 from Art the Foundation/Foundation Year Intensive program.
During the celebratory luncheon, key administrative and academic leaders at the university spoke to the Dean’s list recipients and congratulated them for their achievements, including VCUarts Qatar’s Dean, Amir Berbić, and Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Cherif Amor.
Dean Berbić welcomed the audience of students and their families.
“Your dedication has pushed you beyond your own expectations, to deliver these outstanding results,” he said. “I would like to congratulate each one of you, and your families for this. What you have achieved is no small feat and will shape this journey you’re on. You’ve shown us, and others, what hard work and excellence look like. It is an honor to stand here and shine a light on your accomplishments. I hope the coming months and years at VCUarts Qatar see you build on the confidence that you have acquired from your experiences over the last few months.”
Dr. Cherif Amor, the University’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, congratulated the students and reminded them of the need to balance academic work with extra-curricular activities in order to attain a well-rounded education.
“Being on the Dean’s list means a lot,” he said. “However, just as important are the social skills that you pick up through teamwork, collaboration and extra-curricular activities. In order to progress in life, you need to be problem solvers, critical thinkers and excellent communicators – these are things you pick when you engage with others and activities outside academics.”
The application process for the 2023 intake of students at VCUarts Qatar is now open. Interested students are encouraged to begin the application process as soon as possible. Admissions counselors at VCUarts Qatar are available for consultations every day.
