Biography

Ryan Browning is an artist who is interested in visual narrative and the interrelationship of virtual and physical objects and space. In his creative work, he explores imagery and compositional strategies inspired by interactive and fictional worlds. His production methods mix traditional materials and forms with techniques employing emerging media – including digital sculpting and modeling, animation, and 3D print and fabrication. His work includes paintings, sculptures, craft objects, and digital media artworks that depict compressed, dreamlike spaces, abstracted characters, and inventive objects. His work has been widely exhibited internationally and locally in Qatar, and has been supported by grants, awards, and residencies at VCUArts Qatar and around the world. Originally from Houston, Texas in the USA, Ryan has been a member of the faculty at VCUArts Qatar since 2013.
