NYP02) Inspirational Art Making (Age 18+)

This course is a spontaneous art making workshop. It is an hour of stress-free and mindful art practice. We will be creating an abstract painting with your desired paint medium. It is a quiet class. It is you, the music and your paint brush. We will start by a basic exercise of bringing our awareness to our senses and directly dive into it. Hopefully this class will be recharging to start the work week in a better renewed state. There will be no judgement or critique on your art. It will be a safe therapeutic practice.

Salma Awad

Salma Awad is a practicing interdisciplinary artist who earned a BFA in Painting & Printmaking and a minor in Art History at VCUarts Qatar. In her recent studio practice, she expresses heavy thoughts and experiences with oil paint as a form of therapy. Salma has been active in her university years taking on teacher assistant positions, working with the gallery and instructing her own workshops (on campus and at Fire Station Museum). She has engaged in group exhibitions at VCUarts, Art 29 and Al Hosh Gallery. During quarantine, she explored jewelry as an art medium, and succeeded to sell her pieces online and at Farmers Market. In 2021, she traveled to Egypt for an academic program in jewelry design. Now she is working as a teacher assistant with the Painting & Printmaking department at VCUarts Qatar.
