Going Public: a Public Art Educational Journey
This program is a joint venture between VCUarts Qatar, College of Art’s Community and Continuing Education Program, British Council Qatar, and Qatar Museums’ Public Art Department.
The program is designed to allow the community members to access the knowledge needed to develop their own public art proposals. It aims to achieve that by providing a first-hand experience of the public artwork development journey, building a better understanding of the requirement and work needed to be considered while they create their own proposal.
Who can Apply?
Artists based in Qatar aiming to develop their creative careers.
An intensive workshop covering different topics such as developing the concept, writing proposals, seeking funding, and selecting locations. This workshop will be led by Sarah Forayame, the Public Arts Curator at Qatar Museums.

Please do not purchase materials until VCUQatar has sent final course confirmation.

Sarah Foryame
Sarah Foryame is a curator and cultural programmer with a focus on fostering community engagement, cross-cultural dialogue, public art curation and placemaking.
Sarah is the Public Art curatorial assistant at Qatar Museums and is the lead curator on local programs such as Jedariart and the 5/6 initiative while also providing curatorial advice to internal and external stakeholders. She delivers the Public Art programming to enhance community engagement, as well as establishes and maintains key relationships with artists and institutions locally and internationally.
Sarah is particularly interested in public art and soft power, and how institutional decision making can have short- and long-term effects on the local community’s engagement and public value of museums.
