Recruitment & Admissions Counselor
Summary
The Recruitment & Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting qualified applicants for admission to VCUQatar, adhering to state and federal accreditation and institutional policies, and upholding the highest ethical standards. This role involves extensive direct interaction with prospective students through school visits in Qatar and abroad, recruitment fairs, webinars, and other engagement platforms. Key responsibilities for this position include conducting follow-ups with all applicants through various methods such as email, phone, campus visits, tours, and personal appointments, and involving parents as culturally appropriate. The role also entails providing prospective students with detailed information about the school and its programs to encourage their enrollment as full-time degree students at VCUarts Qatar. Additionally, the counselor is expected to offer advisory and customer service support, promptly addressing any queries to enhance student satisfaction. This is a full-time position offering a comprehensive benefits package including a range of allowances, child tuition support, and ample professional development opportunities. Company sponsorship and relocation benefits may also be offered depending on eligibility criteria and contingent on approval from the Ministry of Interior.

Major Activities & Essential Functions
- Makes appointments and visits assigned schools in Doha, Qatar, and abroad to meet with prospective students, and college counselors. Prepares, coordinates, participates, executes recruitment programs and events, on- or off campus. Designs recruitment fair booths as needed/requested.
- Accurately and completely portrays college educational programs, expected outcomes, student services, and financial consideration to students, parents and educators. Provides helpful and accurate information about VCUarts Qatar, the value a VCU degree, and on all aspects of the application and admissions processes and procedures, including portfolio development, testing requirements, scholarship and financial aid procedures, etc. as they relate to undergraduate freshman, transfers, exchange students, cross registration students, bridge program applicants, and graduate applicants.
- Serves as first-in-line admissions advisor to prospective applicants/students and their families, as they drop in or call in at the Office of Admissions. Accepts all incoming calls to Admissions from the University front desk or the phone tree, and responds or forwards these calls accordingly for assistance. Manages the Admissions voice mail box, return calls daily.
- Participates in post-application/admission recruitment and enrollment activities including: admissions workshops, test events, open houses, training sessions, orientation programs, career days, and other programs and activities where VCUarts Qatar is promoted.
- Be knowledgeable about our various undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as FYI, ABP dual enrollment, and AFO, including their respective application and admissions processes at all times, and as they change. and collects accurate and full contact data. Tracks and manages inquiries via approved systems to achieve prompt contact and action. Secures new inquiries by directly asking counselors of others for student referrals.
- Conducts follow up with all applicants to ensure successful application submission, and eventually matriculation, as well as, schedules and conducts campus visits and tours, pursue qualified candidates for enrollment, and determine appropriateness of candidates for admission based upon career goal compatibility and conducts all activities in accordance with the highest ethical standards. Adheres to all state, and federal accreditation and college rules and regulations regarding student recruitment.
- Provides support to the Office of Admissions for all matters related to infrastructure and supplies, and keeps statistical reports up to date at all times with reporting data always accessible.
- Assists in documenting process and procedures related to recruitment, as well as, maintains brand excellence of VCUarts Qatar in the Admissions Reception area at all times.
- Provides feedback re clarify of information as it pertains to the Admissions website, and assists in sustainable stewardship of resources, including budget and material resources made available to the Office of Admissions.
- Complies with VCUarts Qatar and VCU policies, as well as state and federal/national laws as it relates to application and admissions records, admissions policy, privacy concerns, and document retention.
- Takes initiative for personal, continuous professional development.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, management, art & design or related field. Bachelor’s degree in Art, Fine Arts, or Design preferred.
- Proficiency/fluency in English – speaking, reading, writing, and listening ability. Proficiency/Fluency in Arabic highly preferred – speaking, reading, writing, and listening ability.
- Excellent public speaker. Ability to command attention.
- Ability to clearly formulate and articulate responses to questions, concerns, and/or issues.
- Computer literacy skills.
- Working knowledge of SLATE and/or similar CRMs preferred.
