Research Assistant – Animation Projects (non-benefited)

Summary

Seeking a creative and enthusiastic Research Assistant to join our team in developing an animated short film. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animation and storytelling, and will assist in the research, development, and production processes. This role involves gathering reference materials, analyzing animation techniques, and supporting the creative team in various stages of production.

This is a non-sponsored hourly position with no benefits based on a maximum of 10 hours per week. Applicants must have a valid residence permit and currently live in Qatar.

Department: Research & Development

Major Activities & Essential Functions

Conducts research on animation techniques relevant to the project.
Gathers and organizes reference materials, including visual and written content.
Assists in developing storyboards, character designs, and visual concepts.
Collaborates with team members to support project development. production, and post-production.
Prepares reports and presentations on research findings to guide creative decisions.
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma. Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts preferred.
Proficient knowledge of editing software including Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
Demonstrated willingness and resourcefulness to learn new software as needed.
Strong interest in animation, storytelling, and the visual arts.
Familiarity with 3D computer graphics and animation software is a plus.
Familiarity with photography and film equipment is a plus.

Skills & Experience

Excellent research and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate ideas effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Demonstrated experience or a commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment is required as a staff member at VCUQatar.
