Bachelor’s Degree Programs

VCUarts Qatar offers four undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree programs: Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA).

Students applying for a BFA must select Art Foundation (BFA-AFO) as their major. After the first year, students move into their intended area of study. VCUarts Qatar’s Art Foundation is an intensive one-year mandatory program intended for students who wish to pursue one of our Bachelor of Fine Arts programs. The program aspires to teach creative thought through projects and lectures, alongside training of skill and craftsmanship.

Students who graduate from VCUarts Qatar will earn a degree issued directly by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) located in Richmond, Virginia, USA.

BFA in Interior Design

A program that develops that study of transformative space design. From conceptualizing and critical thinking, to experimental prototyping, production and fabrication of an outcome that expresses how art, architecture, design, and technology informs the language of interior design.

BFA in Graphic Design

Graphic Design at VCUarts Qatar plays a dynamic role in the region through education and research focused on cultural production, social innovation, and the preservation and development of typographic cultural heritage. By studying Graphic Design, you can become an empowered creative citizen, a cultural participant and an active and creative force in the shaping of our world.

BFA in Painting and Printmaking

The Department of Painting and Printmaking is an enthusiastic community centred on both practice and research. Students develop a working knowledge in painting, drawing and printmaking but are also given opportunities to participate in an expanded field that includes socially engaged practices, creative coding, video, animation and performance.... Alumni from this department have advanced to careers as artists, teachers, gallerists, curators, arts administrators. Painting and Printmaking also offers a range of public programs including lectures and studio visits with artists, curators and critics, exhibitions and open studios. In addition, students have a number of opportunities to travel to exciting destinations including Istanbul, Berlin, Beirut, Paris and more.

BA in Art History

The program examines visual and material culture, past and present. It explores how images, objects, spaces, and other physical aspects shape and embody the beliefs and concerns of a society or community. While the program covers global developments in art, its core focus is on the interchange between the Islamic world and the non-Islamic cultures of Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
