About this class

You will use paper and paper products to create useful and fun objects/ sculptures depending on your interest. You will explore the qualities of paper pulp, and the methods to create a variety of pieces. You will also go through experiments of creating different samples of paper, and choose and mix from a variety of other materials to add to your paper pulp such as flowers, leaves, seeds, etc.

Materials needed

Items to buy for this class

Participants are required to buy their own materials beforehand and bring them to every class

  • Small plastic bucket/ Big plastic bowl
  • Sieve or Strainer
  • Discarded Paper/ old books/ notebooks/ Cardboard Box/ Paper Products/ Color Papers (Bring what you have)

Blenders to work with in the class room will be provided by VCUQatar

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Most of the materials are available from any art supply shop, for example:

Sultana Jesmine
Lecturer

Sultana Jesmine, an Interdisciplinary Designer (MFA), Interior Designer (BFA) and Fashion Designer (BFA) is a VCUArts Qatar Alumni. Jesmine loves to travel and to learn from different cultures, which in turn enriches her as an individual and her design research. Continuous learning and teaching are one of her many passions. She enjoys sports, adventures and new experiences. Her diverse experiences include leadership and community service, fashion shows, exhibitions, graphic design, photography, and videography.
