Student Leadership Development

Our Leadership Development Program empowers and supports students to become transformative and inclusive leaders through engagement in diverse, experiential learning opportunities that foster their career readiness and sense of belonging in the VCUarts Qatar communities.

The program is open to all students, regardless of major or area of interest. We offer a variety of workshops, events, and opportunities for students to engage with others, learn from experts, and build leadership skills. Some of the key components of the Leadership Development Program include:

Workshops

Our workshops are designed to give students a deep understanding of leadership principles and practices. Workshops cover various topics, including communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and team-building.

Leadership Retreats

Our annual retreats are designed to provide students with an immersive experience in leadership development. During a retreat, students will engage in interactive activities and discussions, develop their leadership skills, and connect with other students who share their interests.

Networking Opportunities

Our program provides students with opportunities to connect with alumni, professionals, and other leaders in the community. This enables students to build their professional networks, learn from others’ experiences, and gain insights into the world of work.

Support and Guidance

Our program provides students with ongoing support and guidance, including personalized coaching and mentorship opportunities. This support is essential to helping students reach their full potential as leaders.

Student Leadership Positions

Student-led leadership is at the heart of VCUarts Qatar’s approach to student organizations. 

Clubs and Organizations

Club members are encouraged to take on leadership roles and drive the direction of their clubs. This helps to develop important skills and provides students with hands-on experience in managing projects and working with a team.

Student Government Association

The VCUarts Qatar’s Student Government Association (SGA) is a student-led organization that represents the voice of the student body. The SGA advocates for student interests, organizes events, and serves as a liaison between students and upper administration.

Student Employment Program

The on campus Student Employment Program also provides opportunities for students to practice their leadership and career skills while working on campus. Positions are funded and provide on-the-job training for students to practice research, lead groups, work in offices, advise other students, or facilitate events. All students should engage with this program as an important way to build real-life working experiences and develop their career skills and understanding.

Student Life and Engagement Student Leadership Program

The Student Life and Engagement Student Leadership Program provides a dynamic opportunity for students to engage with work in the Student Life and Engagement Office. This offers employment opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience, financial support, and leadership skills. In working with the Student Life and Engagement Team on special programs, initiatives, and events, students learn about their leadership style and define the areas of their own improvement, while working with specialized professionals in leadership development. Students gain improved communication, understanding of self, time management, organization, balance, and teamwork skills. Students also develop their leadership skills by taking on leadership roles in the program. The program provides working experience to enhance student resumes and other opportunities to learn in a safe and learning-focused work environment.
