12) Brush Calligraphy Workshop (Basic)

About this class

The Basic Brush Calligraphy Workshop is a four-hour workshop designed for beginners who do not have any knowledge or any background in Brush Calligraphy. The workshop provides an in-depth and step by step instruction focusing on letter formation whilst executing the two important strokes in Brush Calligraphy. 

It is divided into 4 parts. 

I. Familiarizing and executing the two important strokes using the practice drills

II. Step by Step forming of the full English Alphabet using the practice guide 

III. Connecting letters to form a word 

IV. Creating the final piece 

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to form and connect letters using the right technique in creating the Brush Calligraphy look which they can use in any craft or framed projects.

Class Outline

Each participant will:

• Learn the technique in using the brush pen in creating their letters.
• Complete the alphabet lower and upper case practice sheets.
• Hand letter the workshop quote.
• Create their own masterpiece which will be framed and will be able to take with them at the end of the workshop.

The participant can buy their own Beginner’s Calligraphy kit from the instructor on the first class which contains the following:

Basic Brush Calligraphy Kit = QAR 100/-

1. 4 Tombow Dual Brush Pens enclosed in a personalized fabric pouch = QAR 15 each

2. 2 sets of Hisgracefulpen Alphabet Calligraphy Guide = QAR 35/-

3. One 5*7 wooden frame = QAR 5/-

4. 4 pcs. 120 gsm final project paper (specifically cut to fit the size of the frame)

5. 1 Personalized Fabric Pen pouch 

6. 1 black folder

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Mary Grace
Lecturer

Grace is the artist behind Hisgracefulpen – Calligraphy & Pyrography. She is a wife and a mother of three beautiful kids.

Her love for art, lettering and calligraphy started when she was a kid. She was out of touch with it for some time, but returned to it in 2016.

She is passionate about teaching others and sharing her love of writing beautiful letters by adding meaning to each of them by writing them in a more artistic way, be it on paper or on wood. Her beautiful letters are on her hand-lettered mugs, prints, fabric bags, pouches, and on wood.

Grace’s passion to teach led her to initiate and launch the very first Brush Calligraphy Workshop in Qatar in May 2017 and since then has taught over 200 Calligraphy enthusiasts.
