Amid the ongoing regional situation the university has moved to remote operations and public access to its premises are not available. Information on scheduled activities will be communicated to individuals directly.

This two-week course offers an introduction to art and design by using many different art materials.
Students will be painting, drawing, illustrating, and printing with different art materials. The participant will understand basic design principles and will be able to execute the designs in their works. During the class, students will participate in numerous creativity and artistic thinking exercises. The class will culminate with an exhibit of student work open to family and friends.
Please note that this schedule is flexible and may change according to needs arising

Day 4 Basics to Design
Day 5 Printing, drawing
Day 6 Drawing, collage
Day 7 Printmaking
Day 8 Drawing, printmaking
Day 9 Drawing, hanging exhibit, final exhibition
Day 10 Certificate ceremony

Please do not purchase materials until VCUQatar has sent final course confirmation.
On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Nourbanu Feras Hijazi
Lecturer
Nourbanu Hijazi is an artist, designer, illustrator, and educator. Her work mainly explores the human condition, specifically internal conflicts and mortality, examining these elements from a philosophical and psychological perspective through surreal and mythological themes created by a combination of analog and digital processes.
She graduated with an MA in Gallery and Museum Practice, from University College London. MFA in Design, from Virginia Commonwealth University of the Arts in Qatar, Qatar, 2018. BFA in Fine arts and Design, University of Sharjah, UAE, 2015.
