About this class

This is a fun and engaging art class designed to inspire young artists and help them discover the joy of painting with acrylics! This class provides a supportive and creative environment where children can explore their artistic talents, express themselves, and develop new skills.

Class Outline

  • Class 1: Introduction to Acrylics & Color Theory:
    Students will explore the basics of acrylic paints, learn about different types of brushes, and practice mixing primary colors to create a color wheel. Students will create color charts, experiment with mixing colors, and paint a simple project to apply their understanding of color harmony.
  • Class 2: Brush Techniques & Composition and Layout:
    Students will practice various brushstrokes and techniques on practice sheets, then create a textured landscape painting using these new skills. Students will learn about balance, focal points, and layout by sketching and painting a still life arrangement.
  • Class 3 : Realism and Abstract Painting:
    Students will first paint a realistic image, such as an animal or plant, and then create an abstract version of the same subject to understand different artistic styles.
  • Class 4 : Creative Projects:
    Students will work on guided projects like painting a sunset landscape, a favorite animal, or an imaginative scene, applying the techniques learned in previous classes.
  • Class 5 : Themed Painting Sessions:
    Each session will focus on a fun theme (e.g., space, underwater world, or mythical creatures) where students can let their creativity flow and create themed artwork.
  • Class 6 : Final Project:
    Students will plan and execute their own painting from start to finish, incorporating all the skills they have learned throughout the course.

  • Canvases: 8×10 inches or 9×12 inches, one for each class
  • Palette: Palettes for mixing colors
  • Palette Knives: For mixing paints and creating textures
  • Paper: Heavyweight paper for practice exercises
  • Water Cups: For rinsing brushes
  • Paper Towels: For cleaning brushes and hands
  • Aprons: To protect clothing
  • Easel: Tabletop easels for each student

Seetha Menon is a versatile artist and educator with nearly 30 years of teaching experience in Qatar and India. She specializes in Fine Arts, including oil painting, acrylics, calligraphy, creative crafts, graphic design, and printmaking.

Currently a Freelance Artist and Art Teacher in an American school in Qatar, Seetha is known for her creative teaching methods that inspire students in multicultural settings. She has showcased her work in prestigious exhibitions across Qatar, UAE, and India, including World Art Dubai.

Seetha’s dedication to art and education continues to leave a lasting impact on students and audiences alike.
