(in-progress): wood, steel bar, acrylic paint, thread, ceramic, 2024

My work revolves around local shipbuilding traditions that have been practiced by my family, particularly, my father who passed down his skills as a shipbuilder. In this project, I explore the craftsmanship of wooden seabirds used as wind detectors on Qatari sailboats; often overlooked in contemporary heritage shipbuilding. I also incorporate the sail role into the interconnected system with the wind detector bird. Through this exploration, I aim to reveal the beauty of these instruments and the profound connection between humans and the natural world.
