VCUarts Qatar was the first university established in Education City, in what has grown to become a 12-square kilometer campus housing multiple educational and research institutes ranging from Qatar National Library and Sidra Medicine, to Qatar Computing Research Institute and Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art. It has since been joined by Weill Cornell Medical College, Texas A&M University, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Carnegie-Mellon University, Northwestern University, HBKU, and HEC Paris, with more than 10,000 students across eight universities and 13 schools.
VCUarts Qatar hosts the biennial international art and design conference Tasmeem Doha and the biennial Hamad bin Khalifa Symposium on Islamic Art, attracting globally recognized designers, artists, and academics while fostering sustainable, university-community partnerships that enhance the educational, economic, and cultural vitality of Qatar.
Qatar is a liberal, hospitable, and progressive country in the Arabian Gulf. Doha offers all the conveniences found in a cosmopolitan city, whilst maintaining a traditional Arab flavor evident in the old markets and the city’s Islamic architecture. The US Embassy considers Qatar among the safest countries in the world for Americans, and English is the standard second language.
