In Collaboration with the Firestation Museum’s Artist in Residency Program and the
Department of Painting + Printmaking.
We are pleased to announce a series of events in collaboration with renowned Egyptian
artist Mohammed Abla, as part of his visit to the Department. This exciting series of
workshops, talks, and studio visits will offer unique opportunities to explore the dynamic
relationship between painting and printmaking, delve into Abla’s artistic journey, and engage
with his innovative creative practices.
Afternoon Workshop: Open Session for the Community

This afternoon workshop is open to all members of the community, with a special
invitation to Qatari artists. The session invites participants to explore the relationship
between painting and printmaking through hands-on experimentation, creating one-
of-a-kind prints using paint and mixed media. This collaborative environment will
foster creative exchanges and provide an opportunity to expand artistic practices.

Join Mohammed Abla in a bilingual (Arabic-English) conversation with Dr. Bahha Aby
Daya. The discussion will cover Abla’s artistic journey, his influences, and how
contemporary art interacts with cultural narratives. This is a chance to gain insights
into Abla’s creative process and the themes embedded in his work.
