Craft, design and social change in Latin America

The lecture will focus on the collaboration between designers and artisans in Latin America, especially in Brazil, where this is a collective, large-scale and widespread movement. The collaboration is happening as a two-way road: designers teaching craftsmen, and craftsmen teaching designers. Because of this, in workshops held in communities throughout the region, a new stage in craft activities emerged. Initiatives marked by entrepreneurism and social innovation brought a new push to sustainable local development.
