Crossing Boundaries Lecture: Alia Farid

For her lecture at VCUQatar, Alia Farid will discuss two projects that portray the arrival of, and fallout with, modernity in the Arab world.

The first, “Acquiring Modernity” (2014), focuses on the establishment of the Kuwait National Museum in Kuwait’s participation at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia.  The second, “Maarad Trablous” (2016), is a film-portrait of the International Fairgrounds in Tripoli (Lebanon) created for the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo.
