Writing Together

The VCUarts Qatar Libraries and Research Office invite you to participate in Writing Together, a 12-week online writing accountability group – a supportive online ‘place’ where you can set goals, share writing tips, discuss pitfalls, and build momentum with your writing.  Come together with diverse academics from across Education City who, like you, are trying to get their writing done and their voices heard!

This initiative is for academics, researchers, scholars, faculty, and alumni who are looking to join an online writing group. Participants will be working independently to move forward on their individual writing projects.

Duration: May 31 - August 16 (12 weeks)

Date/Time: Sundays and Tuesdays from 10:00am until 1:00pm

Join as many sessions as you’d like, or start slow with just one per week.

This group is for you, if...

  • you crave uninterrupted time to read, write, and think.
  • you want to be held accountable, and revive or refresh neglected projects.
  • you want to be ‘with’ others who face similar challenges, yet want to feel good about writing instead of feeling stressed out.
  • you are tired of writing in isolation and looking for inspiration.
  • you are an educator and/or faculty member looking to move a writing project forward, or a rising scholar working toward an advanced degree or Ph.D.


How Will I Benefit?

  • Enjoy structure in a time when routine has been lost.
  • Meet diverse academics from across Education City who, like you, are trying to get their writing done and their voices heard.
  • Enjoy much needed positive social support and wrap up a writing project by the end of August.


How Does It Work? 
It’s simple. 

  • At the start of each online session, group members ‘check-in’ to share measurable writing goals for that session. 
  • Then, writers can either ‘leave’ the session or stay ‘online’ and write. 
  • During the second or ‘check-out’ session, members confirm if they moved forward or met their goal, what went to plan, and what they hope to improve for the following session. 


The idea is to build momentum through consistent practice. It is powerful, and proven to work.
