Congratulations to the Time Studio students and faculty from our Art Foundation program who won the Camp Nou Best Virtual Reality / 360º Film prize at Barcelona Planet Film Festival for their project titled, "Simulated Fashion."

Barcelona Planet Film Festival is an international event which showcases innovative independent cinema from around the world by up-and-coming artists.

In “Simulated Fashion”, fashion meets new technologies, arts, and filmmaking to celebrate voices from the Middle East using time in 360º environments.

The Art Foundation students worked collaboratively to produce a virtual reality fashion film. The film showcases the collections of the senior students from the Fashion Design program at VCUarts Qatar. Each fashion collection embodies ideas such as self-discovery and living in the future.

The students collaborated with Sonic Jeel, a design elective course and pseudo record label exploring systems of sound using small portable synthesizers and sampling, to produce the soundtracks for the film.

The project was led by Art Foundation Assistant Professor Hadeer Omar, with Teaching Assistant Latifa Alkuwari, and Fashion Design Assistant Professor Federica Visani, Fashion Design Associate Professor Ali Khan, Director of Art Foundation Simone Muscolino, and Graphic Design Associate Professor Michael Hersrud.

The students are Almaha Al-Mahmoud, Latifa Al-Ali, Laura Alfardan, Maha Al-Sulaiti, Salja Rasheed, Haya Al-Mazroey, Noor Butt, Zahra Anwar, Noora Alhenzab, Maha Al Henzab, Yasmine Al Nass, Nadia Al Jabari, Shaikha Alansari, Maryan Mohammoud, Minseo Kim, Fatima I.
