Kathryn London-Penny

Biography

Originally from the East Coast of Canada, Kathryn London-Penny is Executive Director of Strategic Communication at VCUarts Qatar.  She was previously the senior leader responsible for all marketing, public relations and communications for the branch campus of Canada’s College of the North Atlantic in Qatar.

Kathryn has more than 30 years of direct leadership experience in corporate communications, marketing and public affairs.  Before moving to Doha in 2014, she served on the leadership team, as Executive Director of Public Relations, for 13 years with one of Canada’s pre-eminent health care organizations, the IWK Health Centre for women and children, located on the Dalhousie University campus in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Prior to this, Kathryn worked as an advertising and PR agency consultant for major agencies including Weber Shandwick, Continental PIR, and others.

At VCUarts Qatar, Kathryn leads a multi-faceted team of communicators who provide public relations, media relations, social and digital media, brand management and storytelling support for the exciting School of the Arts in Doha, an extension of the main campus of VCUarts in Richmond, Virginia.

Kathryn has received numerous prestigious international awards during her career, including the International Association of Business Communicator’s Gold Quill Award and the Canadian Public Relations Society’s National Award of Excellence.
