The uplifting track, featuring singers Aisha, Trinidad Cardona, and Davido, draws on R&B and reggae influences, and played a central role in the final draw for the tournament, which took place on Friday night at Doha Exhibition & Convention Center.
“I am blessed and honored to exist in these exciting times, where I get to witness and be part of this huge milestone for my country, Qatar,” Aisha said.
“The song’s message of togetherness and joy resonated with me as joy was present with us throughout the journey of making this song. It is a dream come true to perform for the FIFA World Cup final draw and be part of such an important song.”
The song is the first in a selection of soundtrack singles that will hit the airwaves over the coming months.
Fashion Design Class of 2016 alumna Saadia Khabab designed and created the costumes for both the video and live performance.
“I started having meetings with producer and the director about this official video at the beginning of March,” Saadia explained.
“Director Ahmed Al Baker shared his vision with me in detail of how he wanted the whole look of the video. We discussed the color story, the style of each cast member, the accessories and so on. I then presented him with some design suggestions based on his preferences. After getting approval from the him and the client, I started creating the looks for each of the main artists, dancers, and background cast.
“We created almost 70 costumes for this video. We had four main artists: Davido, Trinidad, Redone, and Aisha. We had 15 dancers, 18 musicians, 18 women in traditional clothes, eight local fisherman, and two local traditional musicians groups: Aardah and Fujairi.
“I also had the opportunity to dress all the main artists and dancers for the live show of the final draw for the tournament. It was another great experience to be working on the live show production with Katara Studios.”
Mahnoor Ansari, who is also a Class of 2016 Fashion Design alumna, applied her design skills as she worked on the video and and live event.
She said, “I was part of the wardrobe team for the official FIFA World Cup music video Hayya Hayya (Better Together) and live performance. It was a great experience to be styling fun and interesting looks that represent the diversity of Qatar, a place I consider to be home.”
