VCUQatar Announces Admissions Portfolio Review Sessions

Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar announces four sessions of admissions portfolio review, feedback and advice for high school students serious about applying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion, Graphic, Interior Design or Painting and Printmaking.

The Portfolio is an important aspect of the VCUQatar application process. Prospective students are required to present a portfolio of their best work that demonstrates their strengths, interests and individual growth.

During the admissions portfolio review sessions, faculty will look at students’ portfolios, give them feedback on the quality and range of their work, help identify areas that need improvement and also give valuable advice about the types of items that should be included in a strong portfolio.

Two Portfolio Crit sessions start on 22 January and will be held on Sundays and Tuesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Two sessions start on 23 January and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Each Portfolio Crit session will entail four classes with sessions concluding on 31 January and 1 February respectively. Seats are approximately QR 400 per session and can only be reserved with full payment. All sessions are open to both women and men and are taught in English at the VCUQatar campus located within Education City on Al Luqta Street. All sessions will be held by VCUQatar faculty and proceeds are donated to the VCUQatar scholarship fund. VCUQatar Admissions personnel will be available to provide details about scholarship opportunities at VCUQatar and the no interest loans available from the Qatar Foundation Financial Aid Office. VCUQatar is also offering the two best applicants full four-year Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Scholarships for Creativity to attend VCUQatar. The scholarships include tuition, housing and academic expenses. To be eligible for one of the two full four-year Scholarships, applicants are required to submit complete VCUQatar application including English competency test results (TOEFL/IELTS) and portfolio by the March 1, 2012 deadline.
