Biography

Liya is dedicated to serving the VCUarts Qatar community by providing assistance in information retrieval and research techniques. Since 2012, Liya has been a team player supporting the VCUarts Qatar Libraries’ day-to-day operations, using her expertise in maintaining the Libraries’ unified resource management system for discoverability and accessibility. Liya facilitates the collation and compilation of various library statistical data. She is interested in finding ways to collect quality data to analyze and provide improved resources and service delivery. She currently serves as the Library’s website liaison to the IT and Communications departments overseeing the new content and updates. 

Through her commitment and vision, Liya has played a pivotal role in advancing the usability and functionality of online information systems. She has dedicated her time and expertise to initiating and leading projects that have resulted in innovative and accessible online catalogs for Innovative Media Studios and Materials Library, and efficient workflows for Art and Design Library.

Liya played a lead role in the inception of the VCUarts Qatar Staff Advisory Committee and participated actively in establishing the guidelines for nomination, evaluation and selection of the first-time-ever staff excellence awards, and in the distribution of the awards.

Research Interests

Liya’s research interest is in developing user-centered system processes that emphasize user experience, easy application, and functionality with the goal of creating efficient workflows and boosting productivity.
