Things Seen is a body of work created for exhibitions throughout 2022. These artworks represent playfully imaginative objects and spaces that explore an aesthetically charged abstract narrative. The work takes formal cues from the design and compositional framing of popular media that exist as both virtual and flattened representations, such as mass marketed cartoons/illustration/comics, video games, and movies. Digital media is used to enhance production of paintings and objects, and to further a process of pushing and pulling the subjects into and out of the pictorial space of the screen, or the canvas of a painting. This process includes traditional media, including oil painting and ceramics, with the addition of 3D modeling and sculpting software, 3D printing, and digital capture and projection for 2D images and sculpture.
In addition to the solo exhibition at ADA, Richmond, USA in 2022, the work has been exhibited at L21 Gallery for a group exhibition titled Brick Games, a three-person exhibition at Marian Cramer Projects in Amsterdam, a group exhibition at Enari Gallery in Amsterdam.
