SGD02) Digital Illustrations

1234 585 583 80

About this class

This course aims to teach how to create digital illustrations through adobe illustrator that can be used to decorate fabrics, more specifically scarves.
The illustrations will be mostly traced from photographs in order to turn objects/people in the photos into outlined smart illustrations that can be scattered and colored and used to decorate the scarf.
Students also have the option to directly draw their illustrations on paper, scan them and make finishing and editing to the drawings through adobe illustrator, and then print them on fabric.

Class Outline
  • Week 1: The course will start with students tracing images on paper through tracing paper.
  • Week 2: Students will pick photos of objects they want to use in their scarf designs and start tracing them on paper before scanning and tracing in computer or directly tracing in a computer.
  • Week 3: Students will decorate scarves with extra features: patterns, lines, text, mixed colors, etc.
  • Week 4: Students will color and do any finishing necessary for their pieces.
  • Week 5: Students will pick a fabric to be used as a surface onto which to print their designs. The instructor will then take their orders and have them printed in the printing company and complete the finishing on the fabric (overlock the edges).
