The Comics Lab’s Creating Comics Retreat

The Creating Comics Retreat, which will be held December 7 – 9, will be a chance for the community to explore the concept of Third Culture Kids through the media of comic and sequential art. The goal of the retreat is to generate a series of comics featuring authentic voices that the VCUarts Qatar Comics Lab can push to publication.

In the retreat, Comics authors Dr. SJ Sindu Sathiyaseelan and Dr. Geoff Bouvier will lead the group in the development of comic scripts, either in small groups or individually. The retreat will also feature discussions of comic and comic art aimed to facilitate the creation process.

We encourage anyone to sign up, but in the case that demand overwhelms our capacity, priority will be given to those who are able to actively participate in the majority of the retreat. Final participation will be determined by mid-November.
