Beginners will learn how to do various Japanese Fabric Resist Dyeing Techniques on silk materials, and how to mix and layer colors using MX fiber reactive dyes.

Participants are required to buy their own materials beforehand and bring them to every class
Note: Dyes and other necessary tools will be provided in class.
On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Della Reams
Della Reams teaches Fashion Design and Textiles at VCUQatar. Her recent work has been developing Arabic calligraphy into machine-knitted fabric patterns and dresses, as well as designing draped woven dresses using her own original digitally printed fabric.
Prof. Reams has been creating one-of-a-kind textiles and apparel since earning her MFA in Textiles from Rhode Island School of Design in 2005, where she specialized in machine knitting and digital weaving. Her work earned her the SDA Award of Excellence, the ATEXINC Award of Excellence, and recently the second place Cotton Incorporated Innovations in Cotton Award. Previously, she ran her own apparel design and manufacturing company for nearly two decades.
