The students will have a hands-on experience of practical methods applied in physical computing or robot interaction. In this course, the instructor will cover the basics of robotics design, from working on actuators and sensors to understanding the basic Arduino code. Furthermore, students will gain experience in ideation, brainstorming, and prototyping, using specific toolkits. By the end of this course, we hope to provide students with basic Arduino knowledge to work and play with.
1. Presentation on Arduino code and introducing them to the tool kit
2. Introduce students to 3 actuators and sensors

4. Provide students with 3 codes and let them figure out the mechanism
5. Introduce them to one basic robot design
6. The first hour will be working on the project (troubleshoot). The second-hour students will present their idea to the class.

Rabeya Khatoon
Lecturer
Rabeya Khatoon is an interdisciplinary and graphic designer. Her practice is focused on narration through storytelling, using different methods of communication such as typography, image-making, and product design. Rabeya graduated with a Master’s (MFA) in Interdisciplinary Design Studies and a Bachelor’s (BFA) in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar. As a resident of Qatar for over two decades, she has developed a unique culture through her experience growing up in multiple cultures.
Rabeya’s research and creative work encompass photographs, prints, and artifacts that celebrate diversity in different contexts. Her design process merges the digital and analog processes of making, through different mediums. Her work has been exhibited in Qatar and other regions. As a graphic designer, she has experience working with several clients and is currently working at a government organization. She has collaborated with artisans and designers in the Netherlands, UK, India, and USA to produce interdisciplinary design projects.
