About this class
If you are aiming to start a fashion blog or simply want to express your love for fashion and styling, through social media such as Instagram and Facebook, then this short-course may just be the course you are looking for to give you a kick-start on your goals!
This course will teach you how to have a better sense of styling on a day-to-day basis.
It will also help you document the looks that you create in a fashionable and esthetically pleasing way!
Class Outline
- Introductory Class: A PowerPoint presentation will be presented to the students on what they are to expect in the course regarding styling themselves on a day-to-day basis. A brief introduction on what Fashion Styling is and what are the basic principles of putting an outfit together. In preparation for the following class in the form of a short PowerPoint presentation, students will be asked to come in “styled” ready for documenting their look for the day according to theme that will be selected by the class from the Introductory class.
- Students will be taught how to document their looks. There will be a PowerPoint presentation on some approaches that can be taken. Students will then be able to tryout the techniques on the remainder of the class time. The class will then decide on what theme/style they want to tackle for the following class and will be expected to come to the following class styled accordingly.
- In this class the students will be presented with a PowerPoint Presentation on how to choose the perfect background that will compliment their OOTD look. For the remainder of the class time, the students will be allowed to take photos of their looks in areas in the building or outdoors that they feel compliments their look. Students will be asked to have a PowerPoint Presentation ready or a Presentation Board to showcase the photographs that they have taken in the course.
- In this final class, students will present their work to their peers and will also be asked to express what they learnt in the short-course.

– A digital camera/phone/iPad (To take photographs of the work)
– Selfie stick/ Monopod
On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Instructors
Marianne Bermejo
Graduated from the Fashion Design program (Class of 2014) in VCUQatar. She was awarded ‘Most Outstanding Sophomore’ in her first year in the Fashion Design program and was later on awarded the ‘Best Senior Collection’ in her senior year.
She was featured in Glam Magazine May 2014 edition on their ‘Editor’s Pick’ where her senior collection had high praise.
