About this class

In this course students will study additive and subtractive principles of color theory and learn about color mixing, color relationships, and visual impact. Students will develop sensitivity for hue, value, intensity, proportion and placement of color in a composition and learn skills in designing with color.  

Class Outline
  1. Introduction to RGB , color mixing and color wheel design
  2. Color schemes and Psychological use of Color (word / color)
  3. Sketching an A4 size drawing to apply color techniques that they’ve learned
  4. Finalizing painting and presenting

Items to buy for this class

  • Gouache Color pad, heavy duty paper
  • pencil HB
  • 1 A4 canvas
  • Assorted brushes in various sizes (flat and round)
  • Artist quality gouache coloring tubes, primary red, primary blue, primary yellow, black and white.
  • Flat palette
  • Water container

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Maya Ismail

Maya Ismail is a Lebanese/Colombian and holds a BA in Arts and Graphic Design. She is a hands-on, experienced art teacher, guiding students in various arts as well as developing their creativity. She designs and creates active lessons engaging learners to reach their fullest potential of creative production.

Ismail develops concepts and artwork, creating graphic design solutions from concept through to completion. She is responsible for developing and creating both digital and print designs for a wide range of print, publications, and advertising. “Multi-culture is my passion; traveling and discovering art in history books inspires my work.”
