About this class

A fun week of exploring cakes, ice-creams, gumballs and all things sweet through art and design.

Students will model, collage, paint, pastel, draw, print, explore mixed media and learn new techniques.

Class Outline

Please note that this schedule is flexible and may change according to needs arising

  1. Still life drawing, watercolor painting and stamping.
  2. Modelling, collage,  printmaking.
  3. Painting, sketching and pastel work.
  4. Printing, painting and crayon projects.
  5. Construction, cutting, collage and design.

Materials needed

Please note: VCUQatar reserves the right to cancel classes for which not enough participants are registered. Already paid fees will be refunded.

Please do not purchase materials until VCUQatar has sent final course confirmation.

Items to buy for this class

Participants are required to buy their own materials beforehand and bring them to every class

  • children’s scissors
  • sketch book
  • art apron or smock
  • bold black permanent marker
  • pencil for sketching
  • pack of air dry clay (DAS or similar)

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Most of the materials are available from any art supply shop, for example:

Bridget Dunn
Lecturer

Bridget Dunn is an art teacher and illustrator who is originally from New Zealand.

Her specialty is art education for younger children and she is passionate about promoting art in the community.

Bridget majored in art at Canterbury University in Christchurch and trained as a primary teacher.

Prior to moving to the Middle East, she taught for 10 years in London preparatory schools and lectured art at a teacher’s college. Bridget had three more years teaching in Bahrain before moving to Qatar where she spent eight years teaching art and design in schools and with VCUarts Qatar in community education. 

Now on another adventure in the Middle East, she is excited to share her ideas and expertise online.
