A7) 3 D Sculpture – This is my City Dream, for teens, ages 10 to 15

About this class

This is my city dream! Making something 3D is easy, but ever thought about an Utopia that you would love to live in? Bring your knowledge of games and movies, and let’s learn how to make it come to life. Using cardboard, paint, paper and clay, we can make your own city that can constantly grow in size as you make more. Think about Lego city and many possibilities, but this time with cardboard and paper. 

Class Outline

Please note that this schedule is flexible and may change according to needs arising

Day 1:

• Introduce the project and show examples
• look at different ways to approach the project
• Discuss favorite city scape
• Come up with an idea of the city and the objects in it

Day 2:

• Share your idea’s
• Technical understanding of making the objects
• Start making objects for the city

Day 3:

• Continue the making of the city
• Technical understanding of making clay people
• Start painting the objects in the city

Day 4:

• Start creating nature or sustainable ways of life for the city
• Learn the importance of sustainability for the city
• Make the city have access to living a sustainable lifestyle

Day 5:

• Complete the projects
• Display your work to the rest of the class
• Document the city and tell us what more you can do to your city

Items to buy for this class

Items to buy and bring for this class:

• Discarded Paper/ old books/ notebooks/ Cardboard Box/ Paper Products/ Color Papers (Bring what you have)
• Acrylic paint, palette, brushes
• Glue, tape, scissors
• Air dry clay (recommended after the story board is finalized)

The following supplies will be supplied in class

• Camera

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Most of the materials are available from any art supply shop, for example:
