Class 1: Introduction to Adobe Illustrator and Typography Manipulation

  • Introduction to the course, instructor, and fellow participants.
  • Overview of Adobe Illustrator interface and essential tools.
  • Basics of creating a new document and setting up artboards.
  • Explanation of the course objectives and structure.
  • Assignment: Create a simple word using the text tool.

Class 2: Project – Mini Tool Exploration (Pencil and Width Tool)

  • Introduction to the Pencil tool and Width tool.
  • Live demonstration of the Width tool’s effect on typography.
  • Guided exercise: Create a mini typographic project using the Width and Pencil tools.
  • Assignment: Experiment with the Width tool on the same word.
  • Assignment: Choose a font that reflects your personality and redesign the word.

Class 3: Project – Mini Tool Exploration (Wrap and Twirl Tools)

  • Introduction to the Wrap and Twirl tools.
  • Live demonstrations of the Wrap and Twirl tools.
  • Guided exercises: Create mini typographic projects using Wrap and Twirl tools.
  • Assignment: Apply the Wrap or Twirl tool to the same word.

Class 4: Project – Mini Tool Exploration (Pucker and Bloat Tools)

  • Introduction to the Pucker and Bloat tools.
  • Live demonstrations of the Pucker and Bloat tools.

Class 5: Project – Mini Tool Exploration (Crystallize, Scallop, and Wrinkle Tools)

Class 7: Project – Typography Manipulation

Class 8: Project – Blending Arabic and English Typeface

  • Introduction to blending Arabic and English typefaces.

Nada El Kharashi

Nada Elkharashi (b.1995) is an interdisciplinary research designer creating thought-provoking experiences at the intersection of cultural advancement, positive change, and human emotionality. With 6+ years of experience, she leads design innovations in daily objects, furniture, installations, storytelling, and more. Nada defies conventional sustainability, forging a relationship between individuals and positive changes through her use of form, material, and perceived function. Her interactive works challenge perceptions, encouraging conversations and local insights. Holding a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Design Studies—MFA and a Bachelor’s in Interior Design Honors—BFA. She received multiple awards and international recognition for her works exhibited in worldwide venues.
