ELECTIVE: PORTFOLIO

This is an optional elective course for the Summer Art and Design Program 2020. This course cannot be taken separately.

This course welcomes individuals that want to explore the creative processes of creating a body of work, ranging from traditional to conceptual processes. This course is also most ideal for students preparing a portfolio if you are considering studying Design or Fine Arts. The initial focus is on core drawing skills, looking at a spectrum of methods from traditional to experimental practices. There will also be an emphasis on idea development and concept building. This course will go through the production of a portfolio and further discuss the ways to enrich the viewer’s engagement through the final touches–the writing and photography. The course will elaborate on the specific requirements that pertain to VCUartsQatar–which will help students gain a grasp of a range from traditional to conceptual practices. It will give an idea of the content needed to build a portfolio for an application. Work that you produce from this course could potentially form a part of your portfolio submissions.
