Projects created by university students bring the rich heritages of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden to life

Interior design concepts created by senior students from VCUarts Qatar were recently on display in an exhibition titled ‘Nordic Essence’ at the campus.

‘Nordic Essence’ was developed as a curated tour of concepts inspired by the culture and design heritage of the Nordic countries.

The students were divided into three groups and were tasked with remodeling a Lusail building, with floors dedicated to the five Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Each group provided unique ideas and models, allowing for a thorough examination of interior design solutions that were specific to each culture and country, and went beyond conventional limitations.

The interior layouts, chosen color schemes and floor plans made for an immersive experience, encouraging viewers to connect with the Nordic region’s rich cultural tapestry via the lens of interior design.
