Collective Strengths-installation

The installation ‘Collective Strengths’ is comprised of 296 tiles to showcase the individual and collective strengths of the freshman class. Recently UNIV 101 students participated in an atypical library orientation. Students engaged in a series of hands-on activities over the course of two weeks to connect with the VCUarts Qatar Libraries team and learn about each unit’s collections, spaces and resources. Students reflected on who they are as emerging artists and designers to create four tiles that visually portray their sense of self and their strengths with the understanding that knowing one’s strengths is a key influence on creative focus and success.
