Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Wears Design by VCUarts Qatar Fashion Student on National Sport Day

Combining arts and science, VCUarts Qatar fashion design student Noor Rashid Butt's designed an abaya using fabric that has been treated using nanotechnology. It was worn by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser on National Sport Day.
Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani made an appearance at Qatar Foundation to join hundreds take on activities on National Sports Day 2023.
Her Highness Sheikha Moza was wearing a sports abaya which was designed by VCUarts Qatar Fashion Design student Noor Rashid Butt.
Combining arts and science, Noor designed an abaya using fabric that has been treated using nanotechnology. The “Nanoabaya” absorbs vitamin D – rich light and blocks the sun‘s harmful rays in extreme summer climates, and has thermal insulating properties.
This design is part of a wider project, which aims to develop functional textiles with thermal, anti-bacterial, UV protection, self-cleaning, or water-repellent properties. The project is overseen by Physics Professor Dr. Khaled Saoud, and Christopher Fink, the Chair of our Fashion Design program.
