The first week of December saw 99 high-achieving students earn places on the Dean’s List.

Across the global higher education sector, inclusion in a university’s Dean’s List is a recognition of a student’s commitment to hard work and academic excellence. At VCUarts Qatar, this selection takes place bi-annually, and is followed by a celebration to felicitate the recipients, and only students with a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher, qualify.

Of the 99 students placed on the 2024 Spring semester’s Dean’s List, 12 were from the Art History program, five from the Fashion Design program, 22 from the Graphic Design program, 17 from the Interior Design program, 14 from the Painting + Printmaking program, and 29 from Art the Foundation/Foundation Year Intensive program.

During the celebratory luncheon, key administrative and academic leaders at the university spoke to the Dean’s list recipients and congratulated them for their achievements, including VCUarts Qatar’s Dean, Amir Berbić, and Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Cherif Amor.

Dean Berbić, congratulating the students, said, “Being part of this group means that you are redefining what’s possible. You are part of a community that doesn’t just look for answers—it questions and critiques the world around us. The Dean’s List recognizes your exceptional academic achievements, but it also acknowledges the courage it takes to take risks. You’re engaged in a process that is as much about discovery as it is about achievement or outcome.

He added, “The impact of your work will go far beyond these walls. You will spark change and create conversations, and to help us see the world in new ways. I feel that at this time especially, the arts are more important than ever. We need thoughtfulness, powerful stories, and creative expression to connect us—and you are the ones who will shape what comes next.”
