The exhibition is supported by the Embassy of India, Doha as part of Qatar - India 2019 Year of Culture
The Fashion Promotion Class at VCUarts Qatar, in collaboration with the Embassy of India, Doha, will be holding an exhibition on the versatile fabric khadi, from May 2-5 as part of Qatar – India 2019 Year of Culture.
The textile is becoming popular with young designers from across India and the rest of South Asia because it is sustainable, environmentally friendly, robust, and adaptable.
The Fashion Promotion Class, which includes students from the graphic design and fashion design programs at VCUarts Qatar has rebranded khadi, the cloth of India, as a special class project. The project is supported by the Embassy as part of Qatar- India 2019 Year of Culture. The students have taken the challenge to make khadi more relevant to today’s consumer and to reposition it.
The results of their work will be on display at Room 390iii from May 2-5, with an opening reception taking place on May 2, from 4-7pm.
The public are invited to see the students’ creative processes and outcomes.
