Biography

Erika is a media artist and producer with an extensive background in media arts and higher education. 

She joined the VCUarts Qatar Library’s Innovative Media Studio as Coordinator in 2021. 

Prior to joining VCUarts Qatar, she was adjunct faculty at Rowan University in New Jersey, where she developed and taught courses in video production and new media.

Erika has been an active member of the creative community at VCUQatar as well as in the GCC region, having recently performed a live dome show at Mutek Dubai, and exhibiting a collaborative immersive film at Ars Electronica in Austria. She has produced several fulldome films, which have been officially selected for international film festivals.

Erika holds a BA in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies, and an MA in Photography from London Metropolitan University. 

Her research interests include emerging technology, education, live video and sound performance, using media as a tool for social change. 

Whilst living in Philadelphia, she was the Lead Artist for an animation project with incarcerated artists and writers. 

She has also recorded vocals with ALKA on VeryRecords and Puzzlebox Records in Detroit.
