VCUarts Qatar Holds Workshop for High School Art Teachers

VCUarts Qatar held an Art Teacher Workshop for art teachers from local high schools, recently. Teachers from more than 20 high schools participated in the half-day event organized by the Admissions department.

The aim of the workshop was to provide attendees with information on and a better understanding of the various programs and facilities offered at VCUarts Qatar.

Chairs, Directors and faculty members from various departments including Graphic Design, Interior Design, Painting + Printmaking, Art History, and the soon-to-be-launched BFA in Kinetic Imaging, gave short introductions to their specific programs, explaining the unique aspects and career prospects of each pathway.

Attendees were then taken on a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities at VCUarts Qatar, including visits to each of the departments which showcased current students’ work, providing teachers a sense of what it is like to be a student at VCUarts Qatar.

Additionally, the workshop touched on the expanding creative industries sector in Qatar and the region, and how students studying at VCUarts Qatar are primed to take advantage of such opportunities.

The teachers also enjoyed a hands-on activity in one of our maker spaces led by VCUarts Qatar alumna and Admissions Counselor, Salma Awad.  

The participating local schools were Doha British School, The Alpha Cambridge School, Hayat Universal Bilingual High School, American Community School International Doha, Dukhan English School, Hamilton International School, Bright Future International School, Gulf English School, Newton International School, Al Maha Academy for Girls, Pakistan International School, Sherborne Qatar School for Girls, SEK International School Qatar, German International School, Rajagiri Public School, Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire, American School of Doha, Al Manar International School, Al Eman Independent Secondary School for Girls and GEMS Wellington School Qatar.

This was the first such Art Teacher Workshop organized by VCUarts Qatar.
