VCUQatar Opens Registration for Spring Community Classes

Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar is starting this seasons Community Classes in February and course offerings include classes in different art and design areas by noted local and international instructors.

Community offerings at VCUQatar continue to expand and fill up very quickly. The current set of 39 classes includes the hugely popular adobe package again as well as classes in silver jewelry, fashion illustration, photography, survival Arabic, ceramics, graphic design principles, hollow clay sculpture and feng shui for your home, among others.

Classes taught in Arabic are hollow clay sculpture, basic film making, oil painting basics, ceramic mosaics, textile printing design, design your pattern, sketching in different media, electronic desktop publishing and clay murals using 3D construction techniques.

Classes that begin in February finish in March, and those that begin in March finish in April. All classes are open to both women and men and unless otherwise noted are taught in English at the VCUQatar building located within the Education City campus on Al Luqta Street.

VCUQatar is also offering a short spring holiday program taught in Arabic, introducing art to young female high school students, who are interested in art and design and want to learn some techniques. The program covers an introduction to painting, hollow clay sculpture and clay murals, classic animation, character drawing and comic book creating and is open to school girls from age 12.

Classes for Hollow clay sculpture and clay murals will be held on the 12th, 19th and 21st of February, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM and the class fee QR 300. Classic animation classes will be held on the 13th, 15th, 20th and 22nd of February from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and the class fee is QR 400. Classes for character drawing and comic book creation will be held on the 13th, 15th, 20th and 22nd from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and the class fee is QR 400. Painting classes will be held on the 16th, 21st and 23rd from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and the class fee is QR 300. Fees for students signing up for the entire program instead of individual classes are QR 1200. All classes are open to girls only and are taught in Arabic at the VCUQatar campus located within the Education City campus on Al Luqta Street.

Proceeds from all the classes are donated to the VCUQatar scholarship fund. Payments for both the community classes and the spring holiday program can be made securely online (http://www.qatar.vcu.edu) or in person by filling out the registration form at the Students Affairs Office and then paying the fee at the Finance Office between 8:30 AM – 12 PM and 1 PM – 3:30 PM Sunday to Thursday. Seats are limited and can only be reserved with full payment.
