The inner critic surfaces as a negative self-talk on repetition sounding “I’m not good enough” sometimes subtly and sometimes loudly. This often feeds self-doubt, knocks confidence and esteem, creates barriers to reaching our goals and undermines our potential to progress and succeed. This needs to be understood especially if we have set goals for the new year, this is the time to confront the inner critic and quash its attempt to sabotage. It can at times also positively motivate us when in check.
This workshop will aid a creative solution, not shutting down the critic, as research suggests this will not work as the voice will return no matter how hard we attempt to suppress it. We will delve into root causes, how to reconcile with our inner critic and balance its impact. We will look to healthily mitigate self-critical, repetitive patterns of thinking that the inner critic employs, known as cognitive distortions.
